The Celtic Herbalist

 - Who Is Your Celtic Herbalist?

Your Herbalist in her consulting room.

Ms. A.M. Both [B.A.(Hons); PGCE; Dip. Phyt.; MNIMH] is Irish by blood and a Welsh Organic farmer by history. It was on her farm in the late '90s that she first installed a landscape of Celtic Gardens, several of them medicinal. A married mother in her middle years, she believes that, after empathic concern for her client, the next best thing is a detailed history of his / her problems. Her clients have already had too many diagnoses by their doctors and consultants. What they need to know is what is causing their problems and how to deal with the immune suppression caused by their stress condition. Ms. Booth also advises on types of herbs that were used by the Celts in similar circumstances.

She first learnt her trade at her grandmother's knee. Her grandmother, born at the beginning of the 20th Century in County Clare, Ireland, only ever used herbs to care for herself, her family and her friends, Ms. Booth's grandmother had been taught her knowledge by her great aunt who had lived with them on their smallholding for many years. This love of plants that Ms. Booth imbibed in her grandmother's greenhouse, out in the fields, and in the kitchen with her, inspired Ms. Booth to train for the National Institute at their College of Phytotherapy in England.

The letters NIMH represent the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. The National Institute of Medical Herbalists was established in 1884 and is the oldest body of practicing medical herbalists in the world. All members have undergone a rigorous four year training and adhere to a strict professional code of ethics. They are entitled to use the letters MNIMH, or FNIMH after their name.
